Vegan Maple Pudding Cake (Pouding Chômeur)

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 2 cup flour
  • 
½ cup butter substitute
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 
1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • 
1 egg substitute
  • 
pinch of salt

Syrup:

  • 1 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 
¼ cup butter substitute

Recipe

Preheat your oven to 350F and begin by combining flour, baking powder and salt into a big mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, do the same with butter, sugar, vanilla and egg substitute.
Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients while constantly stirring (we use a mixer for this part). Keep stirring until it forms a nice dough and add a bit of plant-based milk if it seems too dry.
Now for the syrup, warm up a small pot over medium heat. Throw in water and maple syrup and bring to a boil before adding in butter and sugar. Whisk everything together for a minute or two and turn the heat off.
Spread your dough into a greased 9×13” container and pour all of the syrup over it and bake it for 45 minutes.
