Banana Chocolate Pie

Bananas are a difficult subject at home. Generally, Joël does not like them. But in some certain cases he does, so when my bananas that I bought for myself and didn’t eat went bad, he decided to make a pie out of them. I would say he succeeded very well for the fact that usually he doesn’t like that wonderful fruit. Here is the recipe from the non banana liker 😉




Pie crust:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup vegan butter substitute
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 3 tbsp water


  • 2 ripe bananas (or 3 for a more intense banana flavor)
  • ½ cup raw cashews (soaked overnight)
  • ½ cup melted coconut oil
  • 1/3 cup melted dark chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • Pinch of salt



Start by preheating your oven to 375F. Get a large mixing bowl and combine flour, sugar and salt. Add in vegan butter and mix using a fork until there are no more big chunks. Throw in water and oil and mix until it forms a uniform dough that you can shape into a ball (you might need more water).

Let the dough sit for about 10 minutes before rolling and then place it into your pie dish and bake for 10 minutes. You can turn off your oven once it’s done, we won’t need it again.

For the filling, simply place all the ingredients into a blender and mix on high speed for 30 seconds to a minute. Pour in the prepared crust and place in the freezer for at least one hour before serving. You can keep the leftovers in the fridge after the initial freeze if you like it more with a softer texture.
