Vegan Apple Crumble

At the end of October we went to an apple picking farm (Le Verger du Flanc Nord, Mont St. Hilaire) and it was amaaazing! I know this post is a bit late now as it’s already more Christmas time, but I still wanted to post it because Joël created this beautiful recipe. So here it is!

Ingredients

Crust:
• 1 cup oat flakes
• 1/2 cup flour
• 1/3 cup brown sugar
• 1/3 cup butter substitute
Apple mix:
• 6 apples
• 1/3 cup brown sugar
• ¼ tsp cinnamon
• 1 tbsp lemon juice

Recipe

Start by combining the oat flakes, flour and 1/3 cup brown sugar in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Add the butter substitute and whisk until it is spread throughout the whole mixture. Let sit while you prepare the rest.
Preheat the oven at 350F. Prepare your apples by peeling and cutting them into small chunks. Add them to an oven safe container and mix with all the remaining ingredients. Spread the oat mixture on top of it so that it’s all well covered.
Bake for 50 minutes and let cool down for at least 10 minutes before serving.

At this point we also wanted to recommend the apple picking place! Le Verger du Flanc Nord is gorgeous and only half an hour car drive distance from Montreal. Joël and I spent a wonderful day there and even though it was the end of the apple season, there were still quite some apples on the trees. After the picking we had a coffee and tea at the barn-like shop. It was a great experience!
